ABOUT THE ARTIST
My partner and I moved to Haines upon retirement from my profession as a Deputy District Attorney in San Diego.
I have been drawing and painting my whole life. I grew up in New York and was heavily influenced by the abstract expressionists who dominated the art scene there in the ‘40’s and ‘50’s. I studied briefly at the New School and the Art Student’s League while working as a layup and paste-up designer for an advertising firm.
After many other jobs in many other locales, I graduated from Law School and ended up in San Diego where I raised my children.
Now I have a spacious studio up on Mosquito Lake Road where I draw and Paint daily.
I feel very grateful to live in such a beautiful and inspiring place with so many talented artists and a thriving art scene.

Artistic Vision
I am most interested in creating immersive, vivid images that spring from vague memories and dreams, sourced from a unique, deeply personal perspective.
Artistic Journey
I found my personal style over the years simply by observing the repeated themes that were automatically revealed in my work. I found that birds became a familiar and necessary theme in many of my paintings. Human faces and figures found places even in my purely abstract works.
Living in rural Alaska often compels artists to depict the beauty of the natural surrounding world. In that, I diverge into my inner world.
